Welcome to episode #3 of my food fails!
Anybody who cooks (and especially bakes) has some failed recipes every once in a while. Or even more than every once in a while.
The whole point of this blog is to talk about my trial and error process. Sometimes I wait until I get it right to share, but other times I think we all need to just sit back and laugh at the things that go wrong in the kitchen.
Yes, this is the time I’m giving you permission to laugh at me.
See: Episodes 1 and 2 for more.
Candied Kiwi: Kiwi that never quite “candied”
Mexican Chocolate Pudding with Silken Tofu: This was one of my “trick my friends” days. You are supposed to add the tofu to a blender to make sure it’s, well, blended. I decided to skip that step. It seemed fine when heating it all together (this is when it’s still hot and smooth), but when I refrigerated it, little pieces of tofu were visible and defeated the purpose.
Quick bread
Roasted chickpeas: I always burn them!
Salad: This may have even tasted good, but obviously not enough to WRITE DOWN what I put in it. I see greens and dried cranberries, that’s all I know. It’s just been sitting in my folder labeled “salad”.
Pizza: There’s a pizza in the fails?
YES because I tried to make the crust from SPAGHETTI SQUASH
Sugared Orange Peel: Besides the terrible kitchen lighting, this did not work like my grandma and I thought it would.
Turmeric Tomato Soup: I think I’m going to keep trying on this one, but I may just not like plain tomato soup.
Zucchini Chips: I found this picture from before I got the parmesan zucchini chips right.
Zucchini Rice Bake: I used coconut milk.
That’s it for this edition of Food Fails! If you want a recipe that WON’T fail, see Grandma’s baked ziti.
