A popular Chinese dessert has been trending lately called tanghulu, which is a fruit covered in a hardened sugar shell. Chinese Hawthorn berry was the original fruit used for this skewered fruit snack, and now people are trying it with all kinds of different fruit!
Tanghulu is basically candied fruit, dipped into a heated simple syrup, but is also then dipped quickly in an ice bath to harden the outer sugar shell.
Grapes make a great fruit to make into tanghulu because you can mix up the green tart grapes with the red sweeter grapes.
Eat as a dessert or a sugary snack!
