I prefer to use homemade whipped cream since Cool Whip is not the best list of ingredients. Thrifty Frugal Mom has a good recipe for this!
As for the pudding mix, it can be hard to find a natural replacement for this in stores. But a good homemade hack (that I got from Joyous Home) is to use 1 part cornstarch, 2 parts fine sugar, plus 1 part vanilla (extract or powder).

Ingredients
- 2 oz softened cream cheese
- 1⁄2 cup homemade whipped cream or Cool Whip
- 1⁄4 cup vanilla pudding powder (see notes for a more natural substitute)
- 1⁄2 tablespoon sprinkles
Instructions
- In a small mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth and free of lumps.
- Add in the whipped cream or cool whip, and vanilla pudding powder. Mix until incorporated.
- Fold in the sprinkles.
- Transfer sugar cookie dip to a small serving bowl. Recipe is easily doubled or tripled to make a larger amount!
- Best served immediately, or can be refrigerated for up to 2 hours before serving. Whipped cream may lose it's shape after that amount of time.
- Use dip with graham crackers, pretzels, fruit, cookies, etc.
Notes
- You can easily double or triple this recipe as needed!
- I've not had luck finding a natural vanilla pudding powder, but an easy substitute is to use 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract or vanilla powder in place of the 1/4 cup vanilla pudding powder. Powdered sugar may make for a smoother consistency than granulated sugar, and since it already has a little bit of cornstarch in it, you can also try 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or vanilla powder.
