Are you a white chocolate fan? Then you’ll love this ice cream recipe!

It took me way too many years to figure out how easy it is to make a no-churn ice cream. This one in particular only requires 4 ingredients – heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and white chocolate chips.

Equipment Needed:

  • Large bowl
  • Hand mixer
  • Small saucepan or double-boiler
  • Loaf pan (9 inch by 5 inch)
4 ingredients for white chocolate ice cream, white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and heavy cream

Ingredient tips:

  • Heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk: I like to use organic options
  • Vanilla extract: homemade or pure vanilla extract
  • White chocolate chips: quality brand chocolate will melt better and give the best results. Ghiradelli is a go-to for white chocolate chips.

What is extra fun about this no-churn ice cream recipe is because you add melted white chocolate chips to the cold cream mixture, it starts to solidify while you are stirring together. This results in extra bits of white chocolate chunks in your finished ice cream!

You can of course add extra white chocolate chips or other toppings when serving.

The hardest part of making ice cream is waiting for it to freeze!

FAQ’s:

What does white chocolate ice cream taste like?

It tastes like eating a white chocolate bar, but colder. It’s still rich and creamy, and since the melted chocolate starts to solidify when it’s being folded into the cold heavy cream mixture, it makes for magical white chocolate bits inside of the ice cream.

How will I know when it’s frozen and ready to serve?

You can check if it’s done by using a long toothpick or butter knife to stick in the center of the ice cream down to the loaf pan to see if there is still liquid at the bottom, or if it’s completely solid. Then allow it to thaw slightly before scooping.

Can I use any brand white chocolate chips for this?

It is recommended to use high quality white chocolate chips for this recipe for best results. Ghirardelli white chocolate chips does well in this recipe, whereas some store brands simply don’t (it’s recommended especially, to not use Aldi brand white chocolate chips – they do not melt as well as higher quality chocolate).

Can I use a white chocolate bar instead of chocolate chips?

Of course, as long as it’s a high quality white chocolate bar that melts well.

How can I make sure the white chocolate doesn’t burn when I melt it?

Be sure to melt the chocolate on medium to low heat and stir constantly. It should be just hot enough to melt the chocolate, no hotter. If you have a double boiler, or want to use a glass bowl over boiling water in your saucepan, that can also work and help prevent burning the white chocolate.
